The examination of problems about quarantine in the frontiers of Iran and ottoman at Naser Alldin Shah’s period (1848 – 1896)

Abstract:

The development of economic relation among different world’s nation, increase in commercial exchanges and coming and going between them, cause many problems from the point of view of health. The appearance of significant diseases such as plague and cholera; is an instance of such problems. These important diseases had spread via such relations. One of the prevention’s ways of the appearance of such disease was quarantine. All counties get involved in commerce and those had common borders, had special attention on set up quarantine. Iran and Turkey had always special attention on quarantine, for existence long common borders.

But ever there were some problems for set up quarantine; because it made many limitations for- frontiersman, merchants and pilgrims who had to pass from borders to pilgrimage holy places. Such problems led to correspond between Iran and Turkey’s responsible persons. Fortunately many of these official correspondences are available.

In this research is attempted to examine this subject by use of documents and papers which exist from past tense. Also in this research some instance examine more than others; they involve reasons of set up quarantine in Iran and Turkey’s borders and to examine problems which were result of set up quarantine and these problems exist for two government, frontiersman and pilgrim.
